July 26, 2010 As windy and rough condition continue combined with very slow fishing in recent days, the majority of the albcore fleet is in port along the WA and OR coasts. Water temps continue to be very cold for this time of the year also. There were only very scattered reports of very littles catches over the weekend.
July 22, 2010 Fishing off Oregon slowed down considerably over the last few days. Water remains colder than normal and isolated to small areas. Some smaller 12-13 pound fish have been reported but average reamins mostly larger. NW winds from 12-20knots prevail.
July 19, 2010 Fishing in 44N region about 100-150 fish, scores of 350 farther north but both areas spotty. NW winds 12-20knots. Water 58F-62F. Smaller 12-13 pound alabcore showing up.
July 17, 2010 No recent reports over last two days. Weather sontinues to blow offshore. Next update will be on Monday.
July 14, 2010 Weather continues from NW in most areas from 20-30 knots. Fishing between 43N -46N along 126W still producing 100-300 plus in spots. Dumping grounds area off Tlllamook had good scores a few days back but slacked off. Fish in all areas averaging 17-18 pounds.
July 11, 2010 Improved weather off Oregon, good fishing was reported from 43N to 46N mainly along 126W line, but some caught as far in as 125W.
July 8, 2010 Most vessels went in due to weather and gale forcast for NW winds of S.and Central Oregon, fishing in 58F -61F water, 17 pound ave on albacore
July 6, 2010 Catches of 100-200 albacore have been reported in the 43N x 126W region over the holiday. However, sloppy NW weather is the norm with 20-35 knots of wind continuing.
July 2, 2010 Catches of 40-300 albacore were reported off the Coos Bay region around 100 miles offshore for a few boats. No reports from other areas as water still remains cold and region where boats are reporting is experiencing hard NW winds. There will not be any updates on this until July 5th or 6th. have a good and safe 4th.
June 30, 2010 Improving catches have been reported off Oregon, mainly off South /Central in the past few days. Very few vessels are on the grounds yet some have had from 100 -250 fish in very spotty fishing in colder water.
June 25, 2010 Water Temps off Oregon are slowly creeping up. Heating in the interior should generate some NW winds over the coastal waters. Some upwelling is showing up in the 129W to 130W area off Oregon. Boats in that area have reported small catches generally less than 30 fish in the past week. There was a couple reports of 100 and 200 fish caught however. Also, one vessel ran down the 125W line from 48N to 45N and had no fish and 58F water.
June 22, 2010 Although water off Oregon remains in the 56 F-57F range and with little upwelling- there has been a few boats searching over a wide area. Fish catches per day of 10-40 fish have been reported in cold water but no concentrations at this time.
June 4, 2010 No reports of any vessels at sea yet but we expect vessels to start scouting along the west coast within a couple weeks. WFOA will post general information on this page as we receive it. Stay Tuned!
